Matt Zuga

Matt Zuga is a Managing Director of Syngenta Ventures, an investment vehicle of Syngenta Corp., a Switzerland based agribusiness company. He was also a founder and managing member of Red Abbey Venture Partners, where he is currently a member of the Investment Committee. Mr. Zuga was responsible for managing all of the firm’s investments, which consisted of 24 companies, 15 privately held and 9 publicly traded (see below). He is currently the Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alba Therapeutics, Inc. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Arginetix, Inc. and a Board observer at Advanced BioHealing, Aegerion Pharmaceutical, Sirtris Pharmaceuticals and Stromedix, Inc.

Prior to Red Abbey Venture Partners, Mr. Zuga worked in the investment banking department of Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc. from 1993 to 2003 and was the Head of the Life Sciences Group from May 2000 to December 2003. Mr. Zuga’s prior work experience includes positions at Raymond James & Associates, Inc. (investment banking), Southeast Bank, N.A. (commercial lending), IBM Corporation (finance department) and General Motors Corporation (industrial engineering). From 1985 to 1991, Mr. Zuga was a member of the United States Air National Guard (Ohio and Florida).

Mr. Zuga received an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a BS in Business Administration/Finance from The Ohio State University.
